does anyone have any thoughts on the newest Jayco journey caravan? I am particularly interested in whether the placement of the battery inside the cabin is OK. my research suggests it is never a good idea to have batteries inside as they sometimes fail with dire consequences. any info from knowledgeable caravaners would be greatly appreciated.
apologies to the folk who see this post in the for sale posts. shane
If it is a deep cycle non spill battery such as AGM, or GEL then it will be safe having it inside the caravan
They are usually under a bed, or seat, in the Jayco Motorhomes (I have seen)
If they are a flooded cell battery, (one you can top up with distilled water), then I would not have it inside
No worries at all with having AGM deep cycle batteries inside, they are designed for that exact purpose. Ours is under our bed. We have a 2017 Starcraft Outback TL 18.6ft and just love it !. For the price, you really can't go past a Jayco Outback model. They are really well made these days, and have all the exact same stoves, fridges, hatches, Windows, and many other name brand components of caravans $90K or more. Their J-Tech independent suspension (Pedders) and the chassis is super strong, rock solid and they tow beautifully.
