Hi all looking for the best advice on a rollout awning about 6.7 mths long to go on the side of my motor home

I replaced a Carefree awning on a friends Caravan, I found it was less cost including delivery, than what a local awning supplier could buy the same awning for, from his supplier. Of course you will also need the arms/mounting fittings as well. Suggest you give RV express a call.

Re Insurance there are organisations that give you a value from x number of photos, use their figure, but I suggest around your $65K, join the CMCA and sign up with Ken Tame Insurance.

Water cannon on the roof & armour grills on the windows are missing!

You definitely need awnings to keeps the heat off the sides. Maybe some white film on the sides.

Try Aussie Traveller,Oasis St,Clontarf. 07)3284 3284. They custom build awnings up to 7.3metres long,and are very easy to deal with.I bought my 5 metre awning there,and I am very happy with it.Initially I visited Jillaroo,who also are in Clontarf,but nobody there seems to have any idea what theyre talking about,or even how to roll out any of the demo models fitted on their factory walls. The man in charge never seems to be on site,and the staff know zilch! Highly recommend Aussie Traveller,who have all sorts of camping and caravanning equipment in a huge showroom.Cheers

If you want a shorter awning you could commence it between those two front side windows onwards. Personally I cant see the benefit of such a long awning. That would take it back to 6 metres.

CIL insurance, if you are interested can insure your vehicle for agreed amount following a valuation. They require some photos inside and out and it's sent off to a valuator (cost to you $110 ). Once done it is insured for that amount and premium that is appropriate.

For example my van on my avatar. Initially prior to rego, to travel to the weighbridge and VicRoads it will be insured for cost of the build to us, then once registered I'll take some pics and get it valued. Then insure for valued amount.

By the way, I love your bus- different!!

I'll go along with Yobarr and recommend Aussie Traveller. I've been researching now for quite a few months including overseas and found them to be so far the best. Price wise and dealing with. Will be heading that way when the weather starts cooling and having one made up. Still deciding if I should have the white to the bus or colour. Probably better white to the bus for sunreflection.

I note you have a gas water heater on LH side - Note to comply with gas regulations in all States your awning must not be over flue of gas appliance. you may be better off with an electric awning on pantograph arms as you don't have an unobstructed area for arms to mount on side without fouling hatches etc. I believe the name is Fiamma for the type of awning I am referring to. www.caravanrvcamping.com.au/fiamma-awnings-caravan

A more robust awning than the Fiamma would be the Aussie Traveler Coolabah. I have one on my van. I an leave itout in much stronger wind than the roll out awnings will stand. When you open that link you will see it mounted on a camper trailer but if you go to the thumbnails below the picture you will see other examples of it.
