& don't even try to stay in a parking area over night as they are policed. There are some north of Lorne, can't think of the names at present. You have to get up early & get down to the coast & do the road in a day. When we were at the 12 Apostles a couple of years ago there were about 800 tourists form China, & India being the next most numerous, probably about 10% locals!

Don't bother with Otway Lighthouse, hundreds more free ones around Australia.

Some of the parking at the 12 Apostles:

Good morning Jeepnudger, I camped at the Lavers Hill Roadhouse before going onto the Twelve Apostles.  It has only a small number of powered sites, economical and has toilets & showers.  It is only a relative short drive to the coast. Camp site #580 in the camp 8 book. Call (03) 5237 3251 to book.  Gwynnie floating.gif

Be clever. Stop at the roadside look outs. Wear really dark sunglasses and remain in the drivers seat. Leave engine running. Snor away. Lol

We've been along that stretch many times. On principle we dont stop overnight -ever until Timboon rec ground (donation),  Johanna beach or Port Campbell rec ground both reasonable prices and not jambed like sardines

Are you talking about what many consider the GOR, Aireys Inlet to Apollo Bay, or the road from Geelong to the SA border that the tourist mob call the GOR? If it is the former then there is one spot, Jamieson Campground, but it is closed until May.If it is the latter then there are a few freedom campgrounds scattered along the way.

There are a few In Cape Otway NP, There are only one of two close to towns, some are a fair way from the main road. Get yourself a copy of WikiCamps, its available for Win10 computers and all tablets. They are all listed in it with more reviews than you will get from here.

G'day all

Although it's been several years since we did that area, we stayed inland of the Apostles at the village of Simpson, at the rec ground
Both powered & unpowered sites, pay at the supermarket

Plenty of afternoon entertainment .... local footy one night; a farmer & his dogs another night, and netball girls- another night
Phil
