Yes I have the 2.2 Honda.  I have an Ibis 3 on my van.  I had previously bought a "2.7KVA" cheapie on ebay and it wouldn't run the aircon.  I took the van to the local Honda dealer and he plugged in his demo machine.  No issues.  Bought one and all is fine:)

Not a 22i but I have been using a 20i for 4 years now during the 40+c days and with echo switch off and throttle to the left after starting, only the Ibis 3 running and nothing else, works well. I make sure the water heater 240v is off and the 240v battery charger is also off. The Honda 20i doesn't like any more than one appliance on at a time. I believe the Honda 22i is to just stop the genny working too hard. I have also heard that you can still only run one thing at a time.

If you a re just buying now scoota, go for the 22i.

Doug the Honda 2.0 will run multiple appliances if you don't exceed the 1600 continuous load rating. Very versitile WITHIN it's limits. I've run multiple a few times including aircon and 240v freezer of tent next to us on about 38 deg day no probs.

Mid December paid $1649 at Generator place.

Came with free delivery, extra year warranty, security cable, 1 ltr oil, 4 metre heavy duty lead & Camo cover.

Keep an eye on their website for deals.

Where do most people store their generator when travelling? In or on the caravan?

Well Lukes

one of the posts I have read regarding caravan insurance mentions certain items that void your insurance, I think fuel in a van would be one of them, that aside the fuel smell would leach into all your Personel items. So outside in a box is my best guess just to be safe,  You should check with your insurance company to satisfy yourself.

Genny lives in the canopy section of the Collie Luke. She is directly above axle as is anything else that has weight. If not above, as close to as possible. I only let her out on very hot days if not on 240v and I keep her chained up so she can't go walkabout biggrin Well, less chance anyway.

We have the 22i genny and it is a little bottler.

We camped on the Murray for 10 days (bush camped) with the daily temps hovering around 40 c.

The genny was run up to 10 hrs a day as SHMBO has trouble handling heat.

The genny worked well and yes I had the elec hot water off and the battery charger off as the solar had the batteries up by mid morning.

Even our fridge on gas held up against the heat keeping our ice cream solid.

It is a 185 esc T rated model.

I have used my 2.2 on my van Trumaaircon and once started it would run on eco with 25 metre lead. I tried on a friend's van a dometic air and would not run it with a4 metre lead hope this helps

Reviving old thread-

Got a Honda EG5500CXS generator that's part of an offgrid solar setup (set to turn on when battery SOC drops below 20%).
Strange thing has started happening recently... after the generator has been on standby (switch = 'on') for a few days, a beeping starts happening.
If I turn the generator off, and back to standby then the beep goes away... for about a day or two, then it comes back.

Any ideas?
