Hay Runners due to arrive in Quilpie on Friday the 25th January

Just a heads up everyoneand this is an important one!

With the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners due to arrive in Quilpie on Friday the 25th January, there will be a large increase in traffic on the Quilpie/ Charleville Road. With over 150 trucks heading this way, wed like to ensure the safety of everyone travelling.

If possible wed suggest you avoid travelling on Friday 25th January but if thats not an option and you do come across them, please make it easier for them and safer for everyone concerned and just pull up on the side of the road, wait it out and enjoy the show!
Wed very much appreciate your cooperation on this and dont forget to spread the word so everyone is aware!!

Wow! That would be good to see Possum.

Hope you get some pics to post on the forum.

Nearly as good as the old days when I was one of 100 braves on horse back on the war path.

I recently did a trip up through Charleville Cunnamulla etc and there were many trucks carting hay in a northerly direction.
I also noted that when travelling south in that area last November there again were many hay carters heading north.

It is for a great cause particularly when you see actually how dry the country is out there...hats off to all concerned.

Massive road train left Eucla this morning I believe initial 48 combinations meeting another 50 today - get you cameras ready if travelling the Nullarbor.

I believe their plan was to go up the Mitchell Hgw and through Cunnamulla. It would depend on clearances from NSW & Qld Traffic Divisions.

The shorter way would be up the Silver City Highway from Broken Hill but would depend on the conditions and permits. If they are on the Quilpie / Charleville road then they wont be on the Silver City Highway
One hundred road trains is a lot of hay...
Safe travels to all, both the truckies and the general public.

What a terrible thing to happen to a couple who were helping out.
I feel so very sorry for them but it is good that they are OK.

A cut and paste from Polaris;

Today, the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners embarked on their 14th Hay Run from Darlington Point NSW to Quilpie QLD with more than just hay to help drought stricken Farmers.

Upon the 170 or so big rigs were toys for kids from BIG W , pallets of Pedigree Australia dog food and first aid replenish kits out of Emerald which will be delivered to checkpoints throughout South West QLD

Brendan Farrell recently said that "this has become more about the mental health of farmers as it is replenishing supplies"

We have contributed $42,000 in cash and goods as a sponsor of the mid-journey entertainment comprising of a $20,000 cash donation along with a Ranger Diesel 1000 HD valued at RRP $21,995 for the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners to raffle in order to generate further much-needed funds and create more awareness around this important cause.
