hi all. Sorry I should have made myself clearer with my question about nullabor roadhouses we are only taking the car from perth to Sydney this time so we will have to stay in a couple of roadhouses on the way over and back and I know they vary so recommendations on any good ones would be appreciated sorry for the mistake. Regards gazzburger.
Hi Gazburger, It us a shame that you didnt get much of a result from your other posts.
Some members on here only assume that everyone should stay away from all facilities.
I have Wiki Camps which is an app that will give you some accurate reports on accomodation. Just a quick look at my app with my settings gives a fairly good report on most of the caravan parks in the major towns as you cross. Coolgardie was probably the worst report.
Most of the parks have cabins but dont expect 5 star rooms. In the past I have stayed at Eucla, Nullabor RH and Norseman and all have been ok but that was some time ago.
Wiki Camps is only about $8 and is well worth it when planning a trip. Good luck and travel safely

I have never stayed in any of the Nullabor road houses but i do know Maria and Polly who run the Mundrabilla road house and am sure you will be well taken care of if you drop in there
Gazzburger,
What used to be the Amber Roadhouse at Eucla - 40 years ago the rooms were as good as any other 3 star motel anywhere.
BP Border Village used dongas - were ok when I was working out there - the soap & shampoo they (both places) give you can cope with the salty water (from the caves).
I'm not certain about the two in SA (Nullarbor & Nundroo) - they were rebuilt when the highway was done. They had room air conditioners. As far as "the west" goes, Pat & I stayed in the caravan parks at the back of Mundrabilla, Balladonia & Frazer Range - we had no grumbles & the facilities were good (Frazer Range was the best).
Unfortunately the Automobile Associations don't print their accommodation books anymore so it is difficult to get the info you require.

Been a couple of years now but I have stayed at all the WA side roadhouse except Caiguna. They are all starting to show their age, and although basic will do the job for one night.
Most roadhouse accommodation in remote areas is adequately comfortable. Have a greasy hamburger & chips washed down with a few brews while watching TV.
Enjoy chatting with a few friendly truckies. Buy a 6 pack to take back to your room. ZZZZZ.
Top up with fuel next morning & you're off again. Repeat if necessary. You'll be at your destination before you know it.

Have stayed at a number of the roadhouses over the years.lswear some have the same curtains and bedspreads for the last 50 years. Most are very average but will do to get your head down for a night.
Our adult son flew into Perth from the UK and came across the Nullarbor to Adelaide with us. We were in our caravan but our son stayed in motel rooms. We stayed at Merredin, Kalgoorlie, ****lebiddy, Nullarbor Roadhouse and Streaky Bay Foreshore Caravan Park. Our son was very happy with the condition of the rooms at each of these places. We were happy with the prices of the rooms. Enjoy your journey.
