Her comments came after the Bureau of Meteorology issued an extreme fire danger warning for the Capricornia for Wednesday.

"We are seeing unprecedented heatwave conditions in Queensland. We have records that have been smashed, records that we haven't seen in 50 to 60 years, so these heatwave conditions are going to continue for many days to come."

I was living on Matchbox Road about 20 years ago, when a nasty fire came down through Deepwater.  We thought the Nut farms [3 in that coastal strip] might go up. but it was stopped in time.

I did get a beautiful Swamp Wallaby baby to raise though.  Mum had thrown her out of the pouch [as they do in dangerous situations] and she was given to me to look after.  I feel so sorry for all the animals in the bush when something like this happens.

Take care everyone,

Sheba.

They are now saying that Townsville could be next! Everything is like tinder - 9mm from a thunderstorm a couple of days ago did nothing to save the parched lawns, gardens.
One chap cooked his lunch in a frypan left on his driveway in the next suburb on Tuesday - yes, the egg fried ok, it was just a bit slower than using the stove!

Today we had some relief - it was "only" 37 degrees! The good news is that Saturday, Sunday next week will give us normal temps of 31!
