Detecting water leaks at floor level

Hi there. Yes, a newby. I have a Goldstream Mini poptop, built for me in 2011 with many off road extras. It is a very capable and well made tough van.But somewhere it leaks; and badly... Not through the front window, as often the case, but somewhere in the rear. So badly that the floor at the rear is falling apart. Well out of warranty, but I asked the builder where to look for leaks and was told ; tailights. Sure enough, damage there so resiliconised them. Still some leaks. Any ideas please...This model has a composite , moulded rear.Tunnel boot at rear has been resealed many years back. That was one leak point fixed.

Hi TBT welcome.

From a previous experience with our 6 year old caravan, try any screw that is rusty for start.

Repairer told us "once water gets in, it keeps coming returning that way".

Our water leak was in the J mold, a screw had broken off, then the builder just screwed another screw in near it, then forgot to put sealant over the screw hole.

Good thing is, its all repairable at a cost, our caravan come back better then excellent.

Here to success to finding the culprit leak.

I am no expert on caravans but if you are getting lots of water in, it must be funneling in, or pooling before entering. It might be through a screw but that would need to be fed with enough supply.

It's not a plumbing leak?

Do you have a truma hws. They unfortunately can develop a small leak which can be undetected for quite a while, until the leak becomes more pronounced.
