Microwave Height

I would like to make an observation re Caravans and MotorHomes placement of Microwaves.

I have just looked at two new posts in the My Rig section. Two great looking vans.

My query why oh why do they put microwaves high up. You will be getting very hot things out of them at head height. Not at all a safe place.

I realise it gives more working room in the kitchen but surely they should be at a reasonable height.

I'm in the same boat my microwave is at my head height and I'm 6'2" in the old money.

Our microwave is above the fridge and in my opinion it is dangerous.
The silly thing is that there is a cupboard under the fridge.
As a standard fit up why wouldnt they install the fridge on the floor then put the microwave above that.
In my case that would make the microwave about a foot lower than it is now.
The cupboard could then be above the microwave if required.

Our van microwave is at knee height below our griller. OK but hard to read dials.

I shifted our house microwave last week from above the wall oven onto the kitchen bench. After nearly 9 years we decided high was bad. We shuffled lots of things about and the hole where the microwave was in now full of cook books. Our fruit bowl now sits on the microwave so no real bench space lost.

The there is the other extreme - Jayco's camper trailers have them on the floor so that you have to almost lie down to access them.
