Clearview mirrors

Hi all, anyone having problems with Clearviw mirrors rubber seals corroding and running down the car doors. Ive had mine for nearly four years on a 105 series Landcruiser and it is becoming a real problem when I wash the vehicle or when it rains. Black rubber stains all the way down the paintwork. Its similar to the mess you get when your wiper blades wear out. The seals are at the base of the mirrors where they are bolted to the door frame. I would be interested to know how many people are experiencing this problem before I start jumping up and down. Cheers Len

I had a similar problem with the rubber seals where my truck mirrors joined the body.(Not Clearview)

UV degrades rubber pretty quickly and I used to use CT 18 truck wash. I found the CT18  speeds up the degradation of the rubbers also, so I stopped using it and started using Armour All on all the external rubbers, from mirror mounts to the Window rubbers. Haven't had a problem since. Don't use it on the rubber wipers. It stops the wiper blades working.Lol

Thanks for your comments everybody. ARB installed them, so they have asked me to bring the car in for a check and they will report to Clearview for me. So well take it from there. Pleased you are not having issues. Len

I have had mine for 4 years and still working great. I would never leave home without them. Clearview are great to deal with and chat to.

We had Clearviews on our Pajero for 5 years and have now had them on our Landcruiser for 3 years and haven't seen that with either of them.

Dolly,
You can tell by the comments as to how many members live below Brisbane. All rubbers perish, go hard & crack here in the tropics (& sub-tropics) - jocks & windscreen wiper blades are the most prevalent!
I had a look at the sealing gasket (rubber, I think it was) under my air cleaner's lid yesterday (is mounted up the front of the car so it should be cooler than the batteries). It broke into many pieces.
