Disgusted

The apron where it was dumped was concrete, so yes there is a drainage system connected to it.
The reason it was described as Disgusted, was purely and simply when you carry your own tea/coffee etc and stop for a break why should anyone have to put up with the kind of smell that come from the 3 "dumps." Not nice

You should have said!

Therein lies an obvious and simple solution:

Don't carry your own tea and coffee :)

Devils advocate for who?...Looking to make the wrong right is another way to describe it.

The caravan groups that advocate for self contained RV's do so to assist their members to get nice town friendly camps with in city boundaries. One might assume that the three pigs mentioned as illegal dumpers here would have the grey tanks on board to advocate for the town free camp policy. They would have stored the grey water after using a free camp

How any person could the say and make excuses for filthy, soapy, fatty, smelly, grey water, to be discharged On a sealed area and even condone it is a real worry.

I mean why do you think in a town environment, the grey water goes to the sewer? Why does our code not permit it in Self Contained Camping areas? Because it is a health hazard that's why.

My only lament is that the OP couldn't get to a Phone and film the deal and also the rego numbers.

to dump on grass or dirt is one thing, to dump on hardstand parking area or the sealed roadway way that makes it a different story

I bet these people that discharged the grey water all had generators and complained about the prices charged by caravan parks.

You have to consider what it is your dumping. I mean after say 3 days parked up you have shower water with soap and hair and every thing you was off your body. Also food scraps fat and more soap from the kitchen.

It all goes into the tank warmed up and a decay process is started. Then it is dumped onto a paved area that may run to storm water. Even allowing 50 ltrs per van that is 150 litres of fowl smelling pollutant.

I have to ask myself why some can't grasp the reality here.

So out get mum, dad and three kids. The three year old drops her rag doll into that putrid mess. It comes buck up to the child's face. They all walk through it and it all gets walked into the food places.

And so it goes.

Self righteousness doesn't exist in the arguement. Looking after the public's health is the debate. Looking out for the innocent that may get sick, that have no knowledge of where the sewage they are walking in came from.

To carry on about water in grassed areas or what ever is simply a straw man nonsense to even consider in the facts of this post.

It is an attempt to justify poor etiquette and awful anti public health principals. Then looking for some imagined high moral ground.

AS grey water tanks aren't overly common in caravans I find it highly improbable that 3 vans travelling together and all of them had grey water tanks fitted no

Yes slowly becoming more common but I doubt that more than 5% (and I think that is generous) of vans would have on board grey water tanks fitted biggrin

You can do so yourself, move on that is, by not clicking on the thread.

Then those that want to continue on with the discussion can...without feeling guilty.

I quite agree Eaglemax. I have never understood why people post to long or long running threads to complain about their length (and lengthening them in the process). If you are irritated by or uninterested in a thread then don't read it.

I've quite enjoyed this thread; I haven't seen so much righteous indignation since I last peeked in at a Greens Party meeting :)

I am not surprised by this comment from you Desert Dweller.

Toyota Landcruisers, Nissan Patrols and 23ft caravans.

A post of this nature on any forum is basically considered as a TROLL post to incite division and argument.

You are a very lucky person that you have not been shown the door.

You are one sick dude Keith.....

Good morning Desert Dweller,

I am disgusted and annoyed by your comments as well.

I have enjoyed you pictures that you have provided but obviously the man behind the camera is a very different person to what I may have assumed you would be.

Your self opiniated views are vile and I for one will be reluctant to participate when these comments are tolerated here.

Good morning rockylizard.

By your rude and unnecessary additions to his post you are only making the situation worse.
As another member above has indicated, when this type of comment appears on a forum it is usually indicating that the comment is troll like to cause argument and discontent and for you to support it even in jest. just lowers yourself to his level.

I thought this forum was made up of reasonable people, well maybe I had gotten the wrong impression.

 Most of us are nice.

I am currently have three vans parked near me as we speak so thought I'd go for a look-see.

All four of us have a grey water tank fitted. All my water goes into the tank at all times and I have a 'grey water' pipe fitted as we speak and was told by the manager here to let go on ground. it is also near a hard surface driveway. That all said I will be removing the pipe today and close valve off then empty by hand via a bucket onto a nearby tree.

These 3 vans weren't travelling together as far as I know. Quite a bit of time between each arriving. I myself and our travelling group all noted that all 3 vans had grey water tanks fitted and as in original post were all dumped on the concrete.. All left at different times. We only stayed for a bit longer to take up time instead of arriving at our destination too early as we didn't have access to the property we were staying at that night before going to the ferry.
Like others have said, interesting answers and like some others have said I personally don't take any notice of negative comments. I just bypass topics that are started by those such people as I'm not interested in what they have to say.

To all those who can't see a problem, how about 3 of us turn up on your driveway and dump our grey water! What would you think then.
