Hi Diggs, it has been a few years since we did the full drive and that was with the car only, about 4 years ago we did go with the caravan about 40ks from Gloucester. The road was mainly unsealed but in very good condition.
The road climbs over the Great Devide from about 400 mts to 1400 mts with a reasonable steep drop at the western end to the plains where Scone is situated. There is some great camping and views spectacular. My clise friends tows their wire up camper trailer into the area a few times each year. They live Tamworth area and brother lives Gloucester and travel regularly that way.
Yes, I would do it but I am also fairly confident semi trailer driver with some experience.
Travelling from Vic to Geraldton about July next year, do you have to go to Perth or can we go from say Coolgardie or Southern Cross. Also what are the roads like, are they sealed? Thanks.
Travelling from Vic to Geraldton about July next year,
Here are two good ways to go. If you would like to see something of the eastern gold fields - Take this route. This route is the short one. The first one has good road surfaces all the way. The second one would be sealed all the way but I can not say how much single lane bitumen is along the way or its condition.
ps. It would have been better to start a new topic with a more meaningful heading. A question in someone else's topic that has a nondescript heading will not be seen by many members. Far more of the members will be attracted to a topic with a meaningful heading.
