Hi all, I would like an honest opinion on Crusader caravans, and Traveller caravans.. Looking at getting a good Semi-Off-road model, but would like some feed back.
We have a couple adjacent to us with a Crusader semi off road van. It is their home and they love it. I spoke to a caravan gas fitter from the Gold Coast a few weeks ago (he does all the caravan gas certificates for the SE Queensland caravan shows) and he said they werent the best out there but did not offer an opinion as to which was best. So, my best suggestion is to try to find Crusader and a Traveller reviews and if possible, speak to owners of them to get feedback.

You never get a second chance at a first impression, so make the first a good one.
In 1016 I was looking at the single axle off road version along with the New Age Manta Ray deluxe. In the end I chose the MR deluxe. Both had the layout I/we liked. Both were about the same price, but the NA had a few "goodies" the Crusader did not have or were extras, and the inside of mine looks like an inner city apartment. Now having said that I have ended up having to protect the underneath of my van a lot better than what NA did and now I cannot remember if the Crusader was better prepared underneath or not. I also think since I purchased, NA have gone even "softer" for off road purposes, and the Crusader has added a bit more "bling" which was previously missing. There is a web site for owners of each and perhaps thats a start. However having said that, when I criticise NA, the moderators are quick to shut me up or delete my posts. There is also a "Lemons" web site, but that also can open more cans of worms than it should as its all about criticism of brands and you are not allowed to post positive results. So there is the ends of the spectrums. In the end I guess its up to your individual taste, and what suits me may well not suit you.
Cheers Wally

We have a Crusader Excalibur Duke with the X Country pack. Sure it had some teething problems but all fixed under warranty. We also had a Crusader X-Country which was also fine. The new Crusader has Dexter anti-sway and it works a treat. We did not have an anti-sway on our first one. We have had four caravans, a Jayco off-road, 1999 and it was fine. We then went to a Coromal on road (both of these were poptops. Every van had some minor problems but easily fixed. We would not ever get a 3 way fridge again as they are a problem in hot climates and when towing, ie working on 12 volt. We have a compressor fridge in this van.
G'day Branchie,
A friend's son is our area's Crusader dealer. I don't know the reason why he swapped from Jurgens to Crusader but earlier in the year they were having problems with water leaks. I believe it may have been a dud batch.
We looked at a Traveller at one stage (not long after I damaged our Outback Eagle) - the salesman said "no problems with a Traveller as if a small portion of the wall is damaged, you just order for example Panel A1!" How you patch it in, I have no idea!

Branchie your going to get good and bad in pretty well all brands mate big or small , some more so than others , the woman that cranked Lemon vans up had a particular brand and from what I haver read there are a heap of happy owners with the same brand . Whatever you buy go over it with a fine tooth comb before you hand over the cash , if you don't know what to look for get some reputable repairer to come with you and give him some dollars. Whomever you go with , once they have your money its up to their integrity ?
