Robina to Inverell

Hi everyone

Could someone thats been through to Inverell from the Gold Coast(Robina) give me advice on which is the best way with a caravan? I see on google that you can go via Grafton and up to Glen Innes or you can go to Lismore and then to Casino and up that way. Im not fussed which way I go Im just looking for the easiest on the tug and van.

Regards

Ashley

Hi Ashley. The easiest way is straight down the highway to near Ballina and then take the Lismore turnoff. From there head to Casino and through to Tenterfield.

I have towed my van from Casino to Tenterfield and the road is quite good with a few places to stop and camp along the way. As you get towards Tenterfield, there is a bit of a climb, but just go down a gear or two and drive to the conditions.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks Dmaxer, I was thinking I would prefer that way its not as busy as the highway and is much more scenic. I see in your profile you also have a Windsor Genesis, as you can see in my avatar thats what Ive got. So far Ive had a terrific run out of it.

thanks

Ashley

You can also come up to Ormeau and swing off at exit 45, go out through Pascoe Road, and then swing left, across to Tamborine village, up to Boonah via Beaudesert, across to Aratula and thence through Warwick, but that's only if you have plenty of time on your hands and are not too fussed about the extra kilometres. Otherwise, I'd recommend DMaxer's suggested route.

My choice is go to Grafton and go via the Gwydir highway to Inverell.  The road from Casino to Tenterfield is not the best ,  we have used both roads.

I also think the road via Grafton is an easier drive after driving both of them last year.

Thanks everyone. Ive decided to go via Grafton even though I hate that highway between Ballina and Grafton. Ive been checking maps and it does seem to be a better road.

thanks

You could also drive from Ballina, via Lismore and Casino on the Bruxner Hwy, then down the Summerland Way into North Grafton, then cross over the river to the Gwydir Hwy to Glenn Innes - that avoids the major roadworks on the Pacific Hwy between Ballina and Grafton. I haven't towed along that road, but was fairly comfortable with it when I last traveled on it about 4 years ago.
