Have you checked your Anode in HWS

I replaced my anode in our Suburban hot water system today.

Just as well, as the anode was looking like one of those burnt out kids sparklers used at parties.

Price of new anode a lot cheaper than a new hot water system.

Have you checked yours lately.   Just a thought.

I check every year around this time.

Yes I do check it and write on the inside of the door the date checked/replaced. I use a texta so I can erase it and write the new date.
Cheers, Steve.

We have a Truma gas/electric HWS, stainless tank, no anode required, 11 years old, still performing faultlessly.smile

 X2

Our gas only one was 13 years old when we replaced it with a diesel HWS. Gave the old one to our son as it was still running perfectly.

Cheers,

Peter

Suburbans - some anodes last 6 months, some 12 - it all depends on the water you are using.

Ian, some check the anode on a service, but it isn't normally done.

Besides on a hot day, is there no better way to have a cooling shower than to undo the anode before releasing all the pressure in the tank?

That was a "Tongue in cheek" statement! probably needs to be done 6 monthly.

Out of curiosity I checked mine after 6 months after getting the new suburban fitted and it just had a couple of little marks on it only. I will sheck again in September as that will be 12 months. I plan to check every 12 months.
