Hi guys, we are embarking on a trip from Brisbane to Perth and wondered if any one knows what the road conditions are from Moree to Nyngan. We are required to stay on sealed roads and this route is showing as the quickest on my GPS but can't tell if it's sealed or not. On the road map it is a yellow road. We are over from the UK for a year any help or advise greatly appreciated
There are a few ways to go between Moree and Nyngan, if you followed the most direct route you would end up on some gravel roads. If wanting to avoid any gravel I would go to Walgett, which is all sealed highway, then down to Coonamble, on to Warren, then go to the Mitchell Highway and back up to Nyngan. You could also go from Walgett across to Bourke then down the Mitchell to Nyngan, a bit longer but I think Bourke is well worth a stopover.
Get yourself a HEMA touring atlas of Australia. The road surfaces are shown for every road you are ever likely to use, plus the fuel and other facilities available in most towns.
Solid roads are bitumen, dotted roads are not.
Cheers, Peter

Unless there is a need to go to Nyngan you can miss it all together. I say this because my wife and lived in Broken Hill for a while and travelled back and forth to Brisbane. Our route from Brisbane was to Goondoondi, Moree, Walget across to Bouke, down to Cobar then out to Broken Hill. All roads are sealed.
Then follow the Barrier Hwy towards Adelaide and your on your way to Perth
