Coleman Camp Oven

We've had a Coleman Camp Oven for the past 6 years. We reckon that it's the best $60 that we've ever spent.

It collapses down to a very small size & is very light. It sits on top of any gas burner/stove & works perfectly every time.

We've roasted Pork, Lamb & crispy skinned Chickens in it as well as roast potatoes & roast vegies.

It does potatoes in their jackets beautifully. We've cooked tons of different pizzas in it, always to perfection.

Lately we've been baking our own bread in it.

What a great piece of camping equipment. They've been around for 40 years so they must be popular.

Hi DD, I've looked at these a few times. I make pies at home & freeze them but don't take them camping, as no oven. Can you use it on the stove in the van. Or can they be used on the small butane stoves. Also love fruit or savory scones. I see Tentworld has then on special for $59.95 at the moment. It would be easy to store. Cheers Pete

That looks great. I'm going to get one. Like making my own bread and roasting vegies. $57.90 at Great Escape Camping.

You guys live a great life being very experienced in camping, fishing and whatever.

If by small butane stoves you are referring to the small canister operated units normally of Asian origins the answer is a definite NO. As these units would allow the canister of gas to heat up with an explosion the most probable outcome.

I can remember my mother making fresh bread on one when camping in the early 50's so they have been around longer than 40 years an haven't changed much so they must be good

Thanks for the reply possum. I was wondering about the base size. I have a coleman 2 burner stove I use when tent camping. I have rung & paid for one at my local Tentworld as I'm away at the moment. Cheers Pete

DD do you use a stone when cooking pizzas, or do you just sit the tray on the wire rack? I think it's just as important to get the base cooked properly for a good pizza. Cheers Pete

As a matter of interest DD, can the Coleman oven be used on a gas burner inside a caravan/motor home?smile

We would say definitely no. It wouldn't be suitable an a small canister stove either. Other than that it can be used on top of any camping stove with a decent burner.

We use it on a double one of these, single burner would work well.

We also used to use it on top of a Coleman Roadtrip BBQ.

Here's some more photos.

The oven worked great on our old Roadtrip BBQ.
