Looking to upgrade

I currently have a Galaxy Southern cross single axle and am looking to upgrade to something with toilet and shower. We plan a fair bit of free camping. We had a look at the Jayco Journey 21 ft slideout yesterday. Anybody familiar with this van that can offer an opinion?

Hi Hottuna,

We have the 21 ft Sliverline and it is a well planned and thought out van.
Ours is a 21.65 /4 model.
I considered the 21.66 / 3 model which is basically the same layout as the Journey but if you are opting for the 3way fridge it means that the fridge is on the awning side of the van and will restrict the type of annexe you may be allowed to fit due to fridge venting on that side.

Apart from that they appear to be a pretty good van without the price tag of the Silverline.

You may get some Jayco Bashers make comments but in my observation they are no worse and sometimes quite a lot better than other manufacturers vans. I am so pleased how well balanced my van is both empty and loaded and how well it tows.
The weights supplied by the dealer were spot on and we have had ours 9 months now for about 8000 klms and have had very little problems.

Let us know how you go.

Members that I haven't heard from for a while "Hey Jim & Lambie" have one of these vans, you could try sending a personal message.

from previous posters the choice of dealer seem to be the difference between a good jayco an a not so good jayco

Yes dogbox I am sure this goes a long way toward owner satisfaction probably not only with Jayco but with all brands.

If I was buying a new van it would be a Jayco,Steel/Aluminium frames are essential, and so is national service centres, there is no such thing as a faultless van but it is nice to know that there is a great dealership australia wide, just wish I had the coin to buy one.

You might have a good point with Jayco but there warranty like with all caravans is only for a short period ,as far as the metal frame goes ,I dont think they really last any longer than the wooden framed ones that have been around forever just my opinion...
