Insurance issue

i have been insured by the same company for many years. I was robbed in a caravan park in the Darwin area and the mongrels came through the annexe and took my Engel fridge / freezer full of meat for Australia Day BBQ, The aristocrat fridge freezer was also taken full of beer and wine. They broke in through the side of the annexe pulling the annexe from the Velcro cut the chain around the wheels with bolt cutters left on site. The other locked bike chain could not be cut holding the two fridges together so they lifted them together. The incident was reported to police who could not give two hoots and reported to insurance company who informed me that these fridges and contents were not covered and would not go through the claim so I am about $1800 out of pocket. So could anyone tell me if they have been stung like this and can I fight it they say that outside the van nothing is covered, this is very confusing as everyone in the van parks believed this that theft of things in annexe is covered. We were in Bali and arrived back the morning of the theft.

Robert have you checked your home/contents policy, your items may be covered by a away from home clause.

Some items that are covered by our contents policy at home, I cover for a small additional premium when we take them away in out travels, then cancel the additional cover when we get home again, some friends leave this additional cover from memory up to $5000( don't need to specify the items) on all the time as it also covers dropped laptop/glasses etc
