I have a question on Towing for our Coaster. We have an '89 Coaster converted to Motorhome, it has a 3.4 litre diesel engine coupled to a 5 speed gear box. We also have a Suzuki Jimny 2013 model, 5 speed manual. How well will the Coaster pull the Jimny?? We will add modifications to the Coaster towing area because whats there now is pretty frail and Jimny as well needs modifications to bumper area for this to happen. I saw a motorhome today towing a Jimny up a fairly decent hill on the Bass Highway near Deloraine and it iooked to be going very well but it was a fairly new looking Motorhome.
I Flat towed a Suzuki Grand Vitara behind my MH for seven years. My MH is a 2001 A class built on a MAN bus chassis.4.6 litre engine. Weighs around 8.4 tons Clips along at 100 pretty well on the flat,110 if necessary.
Slow up hills but known to pass a heavy B Double on hills Like the Toowoomba Ranges. (Occasionally)
Taking into account my vehicle is heavier and the Jimny is lighter than the Vitara I would have thought your Coaster should be well capable of towing the Jimny OK.
My A frame was a Hitch-N-Go with a Machitch towpin system. With the new Machitch self connecting towpin I would opt for that version now.
I saw a new set up recently where the tow vehicle had a rearview camera set up just above the towpin receiver to make coupling a lot easier. It was on a Mazda BT50. Made it a one person method.
The link is to the MacHitch website.
I have no connection with them just a satisfied customer.
There are other systems out there and they will have their fans as well.

Hope you get a set up that suits you and get out travelling.
We tow a Terios behind 93 Coaster. Seems to manage ok - cruise around 90-95 on flat roads. We go over the Divide (Yarra Glen to Yea) most times we travel - is very good on those gradients.
Is it the Jimny where you have to get modifications done to the driving mechanisms in order to flat tow? I think we discounted getting one of those for that reason.
Perhaps you could consider hiring a tandem trailer for a couple of hours & put something on it to bring it up to the Jimmys estimated weight & go for drive.

Ok thanks, will check out whether we need to mods on the jimny.
