Members asking questions, what do you want?

What I am getting at, is a question is posted, the topic receives replies, those replies can vary, there may be disagreements, different opinions etc., but no question will have just one answer! But the poster does not acknowledge, question or discus, just disappears off the thread.

Is it when someone posts a question should only one other member give one answer and that's it! Its not just this forum, but others, and even to the extent of asking the same question on the different forums. Now I am looking at questions and thinking why bother, lets face it most things can be solved by a bit of research and net surfing.

This is a bit of a social group really Obvious when you read some posts which are all embellishing. You could go back and look at a couple of former members who commented on nearly everything .One that comes to mind was Mac......a. Cheers. Daz

I generally give only one reply, don't debate and don't expect accolades. Not my concern if people take it on board or ignore what I say
Life to short to worry of things I have no control over

Answer is often given . The I /we go on about similar things on same thread as being sociable . Donāt take things too seriously. Some are just an opinion of how , what they have done ? Which may not be appropriate??

If I didn't answer this, I would be guilty of my own question.

I would either say "I have enough info now, thanks for all that help", or "Thanks for all the info, keep it coming"

Instead, I think I will become just part of the back ground, and read.

In my opinion Ian, (which could therefore be wrong), if only one person answers the question asked, it may be the wrong answer, or interpretated wrongly

My interpretation is, that if a person does not come back and acknowledge the answers, then I would probably not miss them

We have to be aware that some posters from time to time, have been asked to leave
I wonder if some of them sometimes return, with a single question, just to stir the pot

To point out (not trying to preach to the choir here), how good this forum and its members are.
There have been some recent posts, on the 25 kph speed limit while passing emergency vehicles, in SA
I learned about this (new to me) traffic rule, from some of the members of this forum, at Greens Lake VIC, in early February
They informed me of the rule, as they knew that I would be travelling back home, through SA

So to the people who told me, (you know who you are), thank you

It is a public forum and as such many members will have varying opinions and even solutions, depending on the original enquiry.

To contribute politely is what is expected and if it is technical then try to back it up with a link or two to highlite the facts.
I have not been on here a long time compared to some but what I have seen is a newbie will come along and post a legitimate question and the topic turns into a ravell of rubbish and quite often being dragged so far from the original topic that I personally dont blame the OP for not returning.
Newbies are just that, "newbies" and some may not be fully conversant with procedures on a forum and as such they should be asked to clarify and not be subject to ridicule for not getting all the facts noted in the first post.
Ask a question politely and if they dont return with a reply then let the topic go.
Go easy on the newbie and it may result in a more diversified forum.... Sometimes the newbie may just be knowledgable in another subject.

Everyone has their own perception of forums and everyone chooses their own behaviours. Some folks are users, some are contributors, some are natures helpers, some enjoy the "club like" social interaction, some appreciate the techie stuff, some just like to stir the pot... No protocols exist to exclude any of these (unless the stirrers get personal/rude of course!).

It would be nice if everyone who received response/s to their question expressed a word of thanks, but it ain't going to happen all the time. Just best to live and let live and not get too raveled up in your own expectations of how others ought to behave. As goes the old adage: No use worrying over what you can't control.
