A specialist division will be set up within Western Australia's emergency services agency to deal with rural bushfires in the wake of the devastating 2016 Yarloop blaze.
The 2015 Yarloop bushfire sparked the decision to establish the rural fire division.
We can only hope this new division will sort out the shambles in communications that resulted with the Yarloop fire !!!
This will be great idea. Give the union control of all volunteer fire fighters that mostly own their own fire units and are protecting their own assets. Volunteers will have own "entity" but under the control DFES / paid fire fighters. Someone will sit in an office in Perth, or just outside of, and manage a fire 1000s klms away. I can see an expensive operation that farmers will just ignore and get fire out.
Bottom line the Gov will make some money.
