if you have been to Archer River for a hamburger and live in Victoria, to repeat the experience go to Mingling Waters in Nowa Nowa between 9 and 5 for a burger that is just as good, the shop is full of interesting stuff especially if your a star wars or gemstone nut

Mingling Waters at Nowa Nowa VIC. is a weird place. It used to be a normal CP with a kiosk/booking office out the front. We camped there a few times back in the 80's, it was nice.
Later on it kind of died due to lack of patronage. Ramsdell's sawmill closed down & the ''big tree root'' was moved across the road to MW & put on show in a teepee.
We tried to book a site there around 3 years ago & were told that we couldn't because the owners were away for the weekend. It was completely empty like normal.
These days we drive past, Lakes Entrance is 10 minutes away. Out the back it has a kind of creepy insecure vibe, wouldn't stay there for quids & wouldn't eat food from there either, looks unclean.
A pity really because the Nowa Nowa Arm of Lake Tyers is out the back & the fishing is good if you can put up with the jumbo jet sized mozzies.
Their website makes the place look great, but unfortunately it's not, possibly due to another change of ownership/management. http://minglingwaters.com/
We drove past there 4 days ago it still looks the same, deserted.

Stopped off at this quaint little place a little while ago only a few people there, very peaceful and quiet plenty of wildlife all around the site and bird life like you wouldn't believe.
also very cheap, next to the river, if i was going past again i certainly would stop for a few days.

i agree the caravan park is creepy but i think the cafe is separate, i have noting to do with them but the food was wonderful and the two young blokes running the place were very pleasant. We will definatly stop there again on the way through if its lunchtime. Archer River is on the Old Tele track in Queensland and Nowa Nowa between Lakes Entrance and Orbost. Beware of the police on the Bruthen downhill run into Nowa Nowa, they are deadly.

Be wary of the light fingered alcohol & drug effected ''locals'' if you camp there overnight.
The pub is directly across the road from Running Waters.
The best burgers we've ever had were Mullet Burgers last year at the Salt Creek Roadhouse on the Coorong SA. Two fillets, light buns, fresh salad drizzled with tartare sauce. YUM!
Great place, great people, great food. Nice small campground next door with power. We stayed 4 nights exploring the coast & national park.
