First road trip

Hi my name is Wayne and my family and I are planning a trip to Cameronās Corner in April this year. Has anyone got any advice on road conditions, terrain, possible water crossing, things of interest etc for this time of the year. I drive a Nissan Patrol ZD30 2001. As this is the first road trip we have done, Iām eager to get any advice I can get. Thanks Wayne

Wayne Hi,

Presume Cameron Corner. April most likely will be dry if so, the roads should not be any problem, in the main good gravel roads, if its wet look at plan B. Sturt NP. has a fair bit to offer as most of the Parks there & back  as the Towns do as well.

Mike.

April SHOULD be OK out there from rain point of view. Bear in mind that IF it rains whilst you are there, they close the roads. You are stuck until it dries out. Heavy penalties are imposed for ignoring the road closures. Fair enough - they may have to regrade 100 km of road because someone drove on it and left deep wheel ruts.

We are planning a trip in May. My research indicates all roads suitable for 2 wheel drive except for a few roads between Tibooburra and Camerons Corner.

As stated above , some of the roads are good gravel and if wet then they will be closed.

we are planning a 14 day trip Sydney, Mungo NP, Broken Hill, Silverton, Mt Shannon, Olive Downs, Cameron Corner, White cliffs and home

Have a good trip and let me know how it goes.
