the best type is the black hose that is ribbed on the outside but smooth on the inside - better that the cheaper grey hose and easier to clean

Welcome to the gang ShayneC, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I have a grey hose I got from the big green shed in the garden section. I think it is used for draining washing machine water out to the garden. I also got some joiners and cut the hose to lenghts that go in a pole carrier I fitted to the rear bumper bar of the aluminium teepee, that way they are stored out of the way and add very little weight to the rear end. That way I can have what ever length I need. The hose also seems to rince out OK, for me.

Not my idea, but a good one anyway... I have a length of 50 mm polypipe which I have threaded through the punched holes in the chassis, ending behind the left wheel and coming out at the front and crossing over the towbar. This pipe is used as a carrier for the drain hose, so I don't have to rinse it out when we pack up. The drain hose I use is clear Nylex tubing. I have 2 lengths of drain hose - 1 long and 1 shorter, which is used to extend the hose when required. I have a joiner to link them together when needed. This system certainly is a lot more user friendly than coiling up a messy drain hose.

Hi ShaneC

Welcome to the forum.

You may want to consider air seeder hose that is available from many rural supply stores.
It is smooth inside and it cost about half of the price that the caravan supply shops charge for their hose.

For example, when I took delivery of my new van I had to use a larger diameter hose and therefor had to purchase a new length.
I priced the required hose at various suppliers and the length I required was approx $95.00
I bought the required length at the local rural supply store for $57.00
Because my requirements were larger in diameter than most requirements for caravans then it was more expensive than the lesser diameter hose.

If you Jayco has a top loader washing machine you will probably need the 38 mm id hose.

Here is a recent topic that has a bit of info in it regarding hose size.

Some hose you buy from caravan suppliers and hardware stores is ribbed inside and may trap foreign material in the ribbing.

How, Stretch, how goes it mate?

Before anyone jumps on me or shoots me in the foot, I DID NOT have my grey water hose out while at GreenS Lake. I used a bucket and took it over to a nearby tree as asked to do by Goulburn-Murray Water. Stretch saw the pipe carrier on the back of the aluminium tent and I think I showed him what I do.
