Darling River Run

Making plans for the Darling River run from Brewarrina to Wentworth from mid April with 21ft van behind 4WD. Anyone able to give the latest road conditions.

There are no problems with roads. Be very wary of Emus they are in plague proportions at the moment, they are belligerent buggars thet will run beside you and then veer sharply into the side of your vehicle/s in a swift Kamikaze movement that can have devastating effects (write off).

Pray that it doesn't rain while you're doing it. The black soil plains along the Darling become impassable & treacherous if you so much as spit on them.

Yes, we went down the Eastern side a few years ago with no problems but last year decided to go via the Western side from Louth down and calling in at Trilby Station for a couple of nights. Unfortunately, for us (but good for the graziers), we had solid rain on the second night there which closed the roads and kept us there for another 2 nights. Great place though (Trilby), so not un happy about the extra time there. A bit muddy here and there when heading South after the roads opened but nothing serious.

Cheers Sundy
