Hi. Just wondering if it is okay to travel the Great Alpine Road from Bruthen to Bright towing a 21 foot caravan. Has anyone any suggestioons on good camping in that area. Thanks.
Google ''towing caravan on Great Alpine Road'', you'll get a plethora of opinions ( and arguments) on RVing forums. The subject's been pretty much ''done to death''.
We were up that way for 5 weeks prior to Christmas. Free camps at Freeburgh Bridge & on the Ovens River at Smoko after Harrietville & prior to very touristy Bright.

An awful lot of semi-trailers do so I reckon you'll be right with a caravan.
Most of the road is pretty good but there are a couple of very winding and narrow sections - just keep the speed down and stay well tucked in to your side of the road.
I returned from some bush camping in the High Country on 28/12/17, I was heading south from Omeo but there were a lot of caravans and motorhomes heading north.
And, please, if you get a build up (ie. two or more) vehicles behind you then pull over/slow down when you can to let them pass.
