New road access fee for private travellers to visit the Mitchell Plateau for 2018 is $20 Per Person rising to $45 PP in 2019 That is a 5 day permit. Plus National Park fees.
Tour companies will probably have a bulk deal and include fees in their tour costs.
Luckily I did this in the good days when you could take your van up there and camp
with only a camping fee.
But everything now is about the $$$$$$ people can only blame themselves
as they want toooo much always complaining if the road isn't in top
condition or corrugated
The Rangers back then said if they ever put a bitumen road in they would
put a board up in the campground at King Edward River with numbered tags
and if you didn't have a tag you weren't going to the falls.
I don't believe that this is for road maintenance or improvements of facilities.
