Cheap fuel.

Stayed recently in the c/p at Lockington, Vic on the way back to Melbourne. Local servo is community run, was taken over when previous owner quit, diesel was $125.5 ltr. Every where else around the district, (Rochester/Elmore) was $133.9ltr. The park was ok shower water was hot, but the toilets are public ones and could have been better maintained. Still for $15 00 a night not bad value.

PS The lady who collects the fees was at the site before our wheels had stopped!!!!!!!!

She lives across the park and can see the park from her house , I found her very helpful and was there to point out where things were and give a nice welcome .

Dorothy is a lovely lady & Lockington is a fantastic spot to stay for a few nights.

The Heritage Center is a ''treasure trove'' of memorabilia.

Did you see the illuminated revolving fountain in the irrigation channel & the Locky Ness monster nearby?

Yes we had a good look around and I agree with you Lockington is very pretty and they have obviously made great efforts to attract people to the place, and anything that stops these small places from "dying" deserves to be supported.

Yes Dorothy is a very nice person and was most helpful, my reference to the speed of her trip across the road was in no way meant to be derogatory, merely an amusing conclusion to the post. So once again I find myself having to defend a reference in a post that has been taken the wrong way, although I should really not be surprised given the "form" of the person in question.

Going thru Bendigo on Saturday Metro and APCO both had diesel at 123.9. Everwhere else it was 139.9. Same in Ballarat when I filled up on Thursday. Putting 80l in your tank at 16c/l cheaper is a big saving. Dont bother with coupons anymore, I just go straight to Metro or APCO.

We've stayed at Lockington for up to 3 nights, 5 times over the last 3 years, Dorothy takes her job seriously. She's always over to us in a flash to take our fees & have a friendly yarn. Get a sense of humor mate.no.gifno.gif

Did you fill up your freezer with award winning sausages from the friendly Butcher? The pub meals are pretty good too. The Supermarket/Hardware bakery section makes sensational pizzas.
