We've seen plenty of couples that have been trembling whilst recounting their tales of woe to us.
The stress of it all can affect peoples health. We didn't retire after years of working hard to put up with that kind of s**t.
One couple we spoke to recently had an appointment to see the manager of a well known brand at 9.00am in the morning.
They were left sitting in the factory foyer with no-one around till 2pm. The guy came strolling down the stairs & the first thing he said to them is ''having a nice day are we''?
Obviously he was hoping that they'd go just home. They EXPLODED!!!
They left their van in the yard & it got lost in the system, only to be found 4 months later unfixed.
They have a different brand now as the other van had MAJORfaults. Poor buggers.

All I can say is that I'm pleased that I got my Jayco about 20 trouble free years ago. It has been excellent with only one leak that was fixed at no cost, well out of warranty.
It's been a beaut van for >200,000 km of bitumen.
Certainly not like those terribly expensive gin palaces that they all flog these days, that unsuspecting newbies hitch (overweight perhaps) to their beaut overloaded ute & off they go.
I suspect that my old Westport & GQ Patrol might outlast a generation or two. Especially now that I have redone the van brakes & 12v stuff. The GQ has had 2 new thrust bearings & 3 new rear axle seals. (edit .. A bit like the favourite old axe with only 3 new handles & two new heads, do I hear you say?)
I personally have little time for the ACCC. They pick their targets for political reasons & avoid the big guys on the big issues. They are in the same pen as The National Productivity Commission. The PC have a mantra that privation fixes everything & the ACCC think that competition fixes everything.

I was lucky (not) , it took 2 years , 14 times back to dealer , who was 200k's away round trip , signed a non disclosure statement , but finally got a full refund .
The problem these days , they are coming of the production line too quick and no testing . The manufacturer knows their will be problems and leaves it to the dealer to fix under warranty. Unfortunately some problems are too big and that's when the s#& t hits the
fan.
I hope the ACCC take on more manufacturers and sort this industry out.
Would I buy new again no , looking for something a couple of years old. At least I know what to look for now.
There are Five Jayco Caravans vans here, all in a row. All owners were asked if they had problems with their Vans Three said yes and two still trying to get faults fixed. Also Four Jayco Motor Homes. Three out of the four have the exhaust under cabin Window. Totally illegal under the Federal ADR's. Easy fix for the manufacturer to extend the exhaust further back to comply.
Why not made legal by Jayco by extending the exhaust further back to comply. "Extra Costs" for Jayco?
How they ever get past the Safety checks. Lack of regulation in the industry perhaps?
I feel for the older folks, who had probably made their last major financial purchase, when they find out that their Recreation Vehicle, has many faults
My theory is, so I could be wrong
Lack of training/supervision/quality control, in that order
