Not totally free . The Burrinjuck Waters Holiday Park , from $18 per night, provides 34 powered sites, we stoped here . Nice .

Joe O'Connor Park is a large area on the banks of the Yass River.

  • A free campsite in Yass
  • Walking distance to shopping
  • Self-contained vehicles only
  • 48 hour limit

GPS: -34.83625 , 148.90619

18 Laidlaw Street, Yass NSW

The area is large, but there are not a lot of level sites. There are no facilities in the park itself but it is a short walk to the weir which has a walkway across the river to public toilets and rubbish bins. It is then only another 100m to the start of the main shopping area.

The sign at the front gate says no dogs.

Jujiong Show Ground Free camp, Town water next to swimming pool for showers, free electric BBQ's - Donation Box - Long Track Pantry opposite (reputed best in Australia) . Service station diner run separately to fuel great tucker ,big truckies meals.

Best sculpture Police memorial (not Bushrangers) next to amenities block. From front gate of showground, 100 meters North on main road, also some great rustic sculptures/outback/ horses, etc.

Long Track Pantry: checked it out. Very Busy. $20 for 2 cakes and 2 coffees. They were OK. IMHO.  GOOD THING:  Nobody seemed to mind our 2 dogs outside under the table.

WikeCamps shows Joe O'Connor Park as 48 hours and self contained only camping. The Yass Soldiers Club has 3 sites for self contained units free and 48 hours max (dogs not specified.)

The show ground in Grand Junction Road has full facilities and no time limit for $20 per night. Camping on Showground
