Hi, I did this route about three years ago. 30' MH towing a Suzuki Grand Vitara. I left a little late in the day and finished the trip in the dark. It was an interesting trip with some beautiful views. Very winding in places and the advisory speed limits should be stuck to. Some at 15 Kph.  No problems as long as care is taken. Glad I never met anyone coming the other way though. I did miss the left turn to Armidale and took the Guyra Road turn. Nowhere to turn flat towing the car. Should be easier in daylight. I have been told the Glen Innes route is easier but I can't comment not having driven that route.

I am sure people have done the route recently and will give you more up to date Info.

Get yourself a Hema paper map, follow it via the best sealed route available & ignore the GPS. Simple solution.

Glen Innes picturesque but slower - Via Armidale easier but a beautiful City to visit.

Hi,

If you haven't left yet, I would take the route Byron Bay - Lismore - Casino - Tenterfield. This takes you onto the New England Highway and then it's an easy drive to Tamworth.  I've traveled this  way just recently and all are good roads.

Enjoy the beautiful green countryside.

Jen
