Hi the Rocket,

Not many free camps through that area, only ones I know are at the Matilda Roadhouse 10 km south of Gympie or Chatsworth Park 6 km North of Gympie..I stayed for $7.00 at Inskip Point Camping ground which has toilets and is 12km north of Rainbow beach.  Just call 13 74 86 to book a spot...Great shade and a short walk to the beach.  Good luck ..Gwynnie floating.gif

Going up/down the Mary Valley Highway is a nice drive if you don't have to stick to the M1. Haven't stayed at Kandanga but it did look good when we went for a bit of a look around (even though we don't need a camp then/there we have a look for maybe next time). If going into Sunshine Coast hinterland on the way we like Little Yabba Creek between Malaney and Kenilworth. This is not the Charlie Moreland Campground. Have written about Little Yabba under Free Camps Qld Section on this forum. Have stayed a both the free camps at Gympie (one on each end of town) and they are both popular with all sized vehicles etc. We were happy staying at both.
