Roof Top Bag

Anyone got one of these? Are they any good? https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/adventure-kings-roof-top-bag.html?gclid=CLKs9azhltYCFYwIKgodVo4Pkw They are considerably cheaper than everything else that appear to be same size & do similar job.

Gday...

I have no experience with this particular product but would assume that as they state "water resistant but not completely water proof" it would be fairly useless in any inclement weather - particularly when driving down the highway.

My experience is that dust will get in to areas that are even water proof - eg through door seals on vehicles etc. Therefore, their comment that is "Perfect for protection against the dusty roads" - given they don't even consider it more than 'water resistant' - suggests it would certainly not be 'dust proof'.

I would be looking for another product.

[edit: given my comments above, I guess their Premium Bag at $149 - which they do suggest is water and dust proof - would have a better chance than the $29 bag you asked about]

The Premium Bag

Cheers - John

I have no experience with the roof top bay you are referring to. However I have used & still do  use a Rhino Rack waterproof bag. It has proven to be waterproof in the beginning. Now I use some tent sealer on the seems, it is 8 years old.

Try it it maybe OK. Just because something is great value does not mean it is crap.

I am only planning to carry soft bulky items like the van annex floor, annex side walls etc. that are not critical to keeping dry. Rhino have two bags the size I want ($259 & $339). I can see the price difference between those two but it looks like the more expensive will actually keep dust & water out if you are carrying bedding & clothing. Might just go for a cheaper one.

Rhino says the dearer bag is totally waterproof. The other will keep water out unless it is submerged. Both zippers are covered with velcro seals but one zip is only water resistant.

We have the rooftop bag you are referring to and it is only water resistant. We had chairs and our tent in it last year and didnt open it for about 6 weeks and found mound on the tent and chairs Wasn't all over but in spots so beware of what you put up there or keep a check if it rains
