Hubby is making a pole carrier out of 100mm pvc conduit to store fishing rods and is wondering where he can buy the lockable end cap (other than online). Any advice welcome. :)
A quick scan of the internet doesn't produce any. Just keep an eye out on the back of a tradie's ute. They are other big users of lockable tubes. Unfortunately a hammer & chisel will probably remove a cap off any sort from the end of a tube, regardless of lock type.
My lock comprises a large flat headed 'nail' about 1cm in diameter and about 15cm long that is inserted through the end cap & cut off with about 3cm protruding out of the suitably drilled tube.
I then drilled a hole through the end that protruded out of the conduit & used one of the common keyed small padlocks that I use in various locations around the van
eg.. Lock Gas bottle cover, lock the Engel to its tiedown in the back of the Tug & on the chain that secures my kayaks.
All such security only protects against the opportunist thief In the age of battery operated grinders very little is safe without expensive security devices.
ps. I made up a metal reinforcing insert for each end cap to prevent poles 'breaking out'. Just stuck them in place with silastic.

Yep mine is the same as cupie setup other than using a 150 x 10mm zinc bolt.

Out of site, out of mind. No contest for a 18v Ryobi angle grinder 30 seconds, gone in a blink.
I park mine out of site. If they notice it they will try. It pi...s me off. Can spoil a great holiday.
If you ever venture onto gravel roads, do not use something that has a lock that can not be removed while traveling. Dust in any lock will make it almost impossible to open. A padlock is the best option as it can be taken off during dusty travel and put back on again as reuired.

Once upon a time they did sell spare ends for the commercially constructed pole carriers. These were taken off the market over 10 years ago. Some reckon that the withdrawal of these from sale is that we could construct pole carriers much cheaper than purchasing them from caravan yards. The sales were way down but improved after the withdrawal.
