Howdy Haze I'm no expert on these but I know a fella who had a Mercedes van don't know which model doing a daily freight run of around 300 k 5 days a week and had a nightmare run with it, now he has a Iveco daily and loves it .

Others may have a better opinion of them .

Be very carefull. I have had lots of trouble with a Benz.

Good morning to all you lucky Nomadders. Still looking for my wheels, but I have found a 2003 Toyota Hiace. Love the Toyota, so this might be it. Any comments, good or bad??? Thanks Haze

I have had a few Toyota vans, not as late as 2003 but had a good run out of all of them. Better than average I would say and good workers. Not unbreakable though so do not be sucked in by marketing hype. Like any vehicle CHECK IT OUT first and see that it is really as represented and has not been around Australia 100 times already confuse

Probably more likely to cost you less than the Merc in the long run ? Certainly easier to find a Toyota mechanic 'out there' than anyone who will fix a Merc wink

Go for the Hi ace a better van.
As to your original post I have a 2008 VW td5 128kw 6speed manual,
very simual to the Merc VW all from the same stable check out the site

The VW is a load of crap 225000km and nothing but trouble mainly all to do with
pollution gear. The VW tech last week told me VW will be moving away from small
diesel motors IE: under 3lt as they cannot go any further due to pollution laws,
Euro 5 ect.
I have heard very loosely that others will be following.
Disclaimer: i could stand to be corrected on some of this.

Conclusion stick with the Toyota and dodge the stuff from Europe,
also stay away from Fiat and Renault.

Thanks to all for your replies & advice. I always found Toyotas to be very reliable, as with any car you must do your regular maintenance, so going down that track now. Regards Haze
