Good spot at Iluka for the van and boat.

Good afternoon Grey People,

We have a van and a boat and plan to visit Iluka for a week, can anyone out there recommend a good caravan stop close to a boat ramp, preferably away from young ragers ?

regards Nobby

I have stayed at both Anchorage & Riverside & enjoyed them both . I don't know if either have a boat ramp.

But it is not far from each of them to the boat ramp & parking . Not too many 'young ragers' at Iluka , too quiet.

We always stay at the Riverside park and try to get a spot along the riverside (!).....then you only need to walk about 15 foot to throw your line in. Facilities are great and park grounds well kept. Heaps of tame rabbits (not human) hopping around by the way. Tariff is possibly slightly above average. Only a short walk to shops and an op shop opposite the park.
Great little town, good pub meals and fishermans co-op but best part is it's a lazy slow moving no worry town.

Good Luck.

Thanks Denis,

You paint a pretty picture, they may offer you the Tourist officer's job. I will re-trace your steps.

G`day Nobby,
We stay at Woombah , great caravan park with a boat ramp. Its about halfway between the highway and Iluka. Check it out.
Cheers,
Jontee

Ah Jontee, the great value of the 'grapevine' of the GN forum.

We will certainly have a look at your suggests site, it sounds promising.

Many Thanks

Nobby

I take it you mean Bimbimbi Riverside CP and not Woombah Woods. Bimbimbi is 2.8 km from the highway, the near edge of Iluka is 15 km.

Other parks before you get to Iluka are Browns Rocks CP on Goodwood Island and Woody Head campground (no dogs.)

The two mentioned above are in town, the Anchorage is across the road from the river and has a ramp a few hundred metres upstream, the Riverside has river frontage and its own ramp.

Have a look at them in Google Maps satellite view. That gives you a good perspective of their layout and location.
