Our 2017 trip to Exmouth WA towing our 6mtr boat PART 9

Well we made the call to pack up 2 weeks early and set a course that would take us home east to Sydney. After 10 weeks living under canvas for 10 weeks and sleeping on Euro air beds (Bad Decision) on our part. Both of us have suffered bad hips and backs from doing so.nonono

The logistics of cleaning up and repacking to whole lot, back into the boat /carhmmhmmhmm for the 5400km trip back. Well it had to be done and we were able to pack it better then the forward trip.

The Trailer bearings have to be cleaned/ repacked or replaced. ( A must on a trailer being submerged in salt water for 10 weeks.)All time consuming for a trouble free trip.

With most of the gear loaded the day before, we were able to hit the road just before lunch. A quick bite to eat in Exmouth and afternoon drive to Carnarvon for the night.

Fueled and ready for the next stage.

We are up early on the Saturday as we have a 650km odd drive to Yargoo 220km East of Geraldton for our second night. We are away right on 7am, with little traffic in either direction.

187km south just before 9am a cloud of red dust greets us 2km ahead. Oh No A Nissan Patrol towing a fully laden single axel box trailer heading North to Coral Bay, has left the road flipped in its own axis ejecting the two adults.

We scramble to render all our 17years of first aid knowledge. The cars a mess. 3 kids get out, one unaccounted for, trapped in the rear Total of 4kids. Another van pulls up. and then another with a doctor and his wife. A truck driver calls it in.

The Doctor asked If I can get the little feller out, as his blood pressure is dropping. Yes came the answer, with the help of two extra men, we extract him safely.

In all 3 hours till 2 RDF planes land at the Overlander road House air strip 13 km away.(4) were flown to Perth( We did not here the total outcome of the accident. We pray for all the family.)

We freshened up at the Overlander RH and had a sandwich and coffee ( Your the couple who stayed through the whole ordeal) Yes that's what you do. No Charge!

Thankyou to the Owners of the Overlander. We made it to Yalgoo late. The Yalgoo Pub had dinner waiting for us.

The Bush telegraph still works in the West. To be Continued...............................

Good on yer Jim and Lambi

Most of us, who have spent some years in smaller towns, automatically muck in

We appreciate anyone from the big smokes, learning a bit about our culture
