matildatraveller @ Birdsville Big Red Bash

Hi everyone, I'm out @ Birdsville for the 'Big Red Bash' tour. Great music, loads of 4x4's & campering styles out here. The daytime weather is 22degrees & sunny. Nights cooler but layering up & camp fires are the GO!! The Police presence are everywhere & a quarter of the tourist to the Big Bash have been booked for one thing or another, so it's all happening out here!! Gwynnie

Hi JocknNic,

Sorry mates, had only access to my phone internet so could not attach any photos.  However I am finally back in civilization again do can sendsome shots through to you.

Left Birdsville central about a week ago!!  Had a fab time at the BRB and climbing the sand dunes and hanging out with 7,000 other 4x4 buffs.  The weather was fabulous with very cold nites.  But the sun was shining everyday and NO RAIN a bonus!!   Headed down to Cameron's Corner via Cordillo Station old wool shed & Innamincka finally stopping off in Tibooburra Trading Post for an o/nite.  Leaving there I headed into Wanaaring and Hungerford along good grade gravel roads easily accessed at 90km per hour finally hitting the Silver City Highway on into Bourke.  At this time I am visiting family in Adelaide for the next 2 weeks...Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  so cold down here.

Take care from Gwynnie @ matildatraveller floating.gif

Thanks for that Gwynnie. Looks like a lot of fun. Lovely shots! Here in the West, it looks like we're going to have a winter after all after our big dry last month. So we know how you feel in Adelaide. Stay warm there! All the best.

Thanks guys for your reply and well wishes.  Where in the West are you? I have a brother in High Wycombe in the Midlands and shall be visiting them sometime after Christmas.  I travelled through WA last year during the 'LOOP' around OZ in a motorhome before I downgraded into a Toyota 4x4 Toyota Hilux with an 'ACTIVE CAMPER' slide-on which is an excellent constructed unit.  Previously I had BEEN RESTRICTED to the 'black stuff' so there were many fabulous (4x4 only accessability) spots in your state that I missed out on seeing.  I would like to tackle the stock route track from Wiluna in the south to the Wolf Creek crater site near Halls Creek.  Have you guys tackled this track yet?  If so, what can I expect with road conditions and how much fuel and spares do I need to be carrying??  Gwynnie @ matildatraveller   floating.gif
