If it was in Victoria I would have to buy the cert of compliance first, Then inspect and pressure test the van .By law the cert lasts 7 yrs .Plus we can be called for a random audit in the first 12 months . I take 1.5 hrs to test the van plus Govt cert ,plus an allowance for a possible audit and 7 yrs of onus even when you sell and some clown fiddles with the gas pipe and it leaks and the new owner rings the plumbers rego board and I get a payout for something I have not done ! In a perfect world the price should be 3-400$ at least. I used to charge 180$ 3yrs ago before I became a grumpy nomad Cheers John PS. I retired 3yrs ago but I still have to pay @550$ per year for public liability for 4 more years until my last certificate has passed the 7 yr limit.

Sorry was just joking mate
The best thing is to go to an caravan shop or repair shop and ask which gas fitters they use
I believe it is around the $100 give or take $220 is way out
A mechanic won't give you an road worthy before you have the gas ticket
Woody, I just recently moved to Queensland from NSW and needed to reregister our cars and our Motorhome. I too enquired about the gas certificate, but with a little help from the Rego office in Caboolture, I was informed that if the rego wasn't changing names, and was being registered to the same person as previously in NSW then no gas certificate was required. It is only if it is being sold into and registered in Qld to someone else then agas cert is required, we were then registered in QLD no problem and no Gas cert.
Hope this helps
Regards Greg

Thanks for reply's
Rang nsw rms today, was told do not need a gass certificate if just reregistering van but to ring qld main roads.
Rang them the lady I spoke to did not know so had to ask her supervisor,he did not know but told her to ring
mines and energy. They said nothing to do with them. So now we are going with nsw option.
Woody, I recall paying $160 last year when I sold our camper - 1/2 an hour's work, checked the flow at the stove & wrote out the certificate!
There have been some changes made to gas & weights (eg increasing ATMs) recently that even the experts haven't been told about. Our Dept of Transpt is making things difficult for everyone - must be a split off ASIO or something. I think they are catching up with Canberra - that place is a nightmare - son went overseas with work for two years & we had his car. ACT crowd wouldn't believe we didn't buy/sell his car!

In Queensland you will need a RWC and gas certificate to register or transfer a caravan or RV.
Renewal of registration does not need this.....just renew the fees.
