No John. Van and tug sit/travel nice without WDH. I don't have the Mc Hitch yet but I have been told you don't use WDH with them. Have a chat to JC when you see him, he uses the Mc Hitch.

McHitch sell WD systems that can be used with their auto hitch if you need one. The auto hitch is also compatable with HR and Easy lift systems.
They also sell a roller system that the bars roll in, the rollers are attached to the chain. [ See McHitch web site for details]
Any hitch that makes hooking up easier is great however anyone using them must be aware that by their very design if they extend the length of the drawbar coupling pivot point further from the rear axle then this may affect trailer and tow vehicle stability in certain circumstances.
This extended distance accentuates the lever action that the trailer may exert on the tow vehicle under sway conditions.
In any case if the pivot position remains directly at the hole that the original tow ball would fit into then the above condition would not happen. If changing the hitch for off road purposes then ensure that the one you buy offers the required movement in all directions.
Any hitch including tow bar tongues that extend the distance of the pivot point from the rear axle may cause problems with stability in certain circumstances.

Hi sharlynn welcome to the fourm. I had a mchitch Auto but sold it didn't like it to hard to use but the ark at $250 I'd give that a go. my local shop wants heaps more than that so I have gone back to the standard coupling.
We have a McHitch on our camper and it has an added bonus. Although we like to trust people and fellow campers there are always people who dont live by any code. With the McHitch it is like a universal joint with a coupling and you are able to pull the coupling back and put your safety chains through the back of the coupling, this will make the hitch section which you connect to the car point at a 90 degree angle and impossible to hitch on a car, and then you can use a padlock to secure the coupling in that position, hope that all makes sense, I can post a picture if you are interested in going that way.
