Diesel Heaters in Fiat Ducato Motorhome

Hi,

I want to put an Espacher Diesel Heater in my Fiat Ducato Avan Motorhome, and am looking for installer.

I am confused as some are saying that if I want to run it off the Fiat fuel lines that the diesel tank needs to taken off for the heater line to be connected to the top of the tank. I then saw an article in the UK which implied that you can drill down from the cab and install a T-piece without removing the tank. Any ideas.

Colin

you can get at the top of the fuel tank through a cover In floor between the seats but do not connect into the fuel line with a T Union because those who have done it have had trouble with fuel leaks .It is much better to use a seperate tank

Thanks,
We have an Avan Ovation M7, with slide out, but not sure that if you used a seperate tank, where it could be located. I would prefer a T union, but now am unsure if I will get leaks, but if its a profession installer perhaps this wont happen.

The fuel line is plastic with a outside layer coating it and many that have had a t piece fitted have had leaking fuel when they fill the tank to the top some have overcome it by fitting a plastic t piece over the outside of the pipe instead of a brass one inside the pipe

As Dragonfly said access to top of fuel tank is from inside of cabin between seats.
We are connected through top of tank with a separate fuel suction line direct into top of tank.
Heater is installed externally under vehicle in a void behind the muffler.
We used a Fiat agent to fit the fuel line into the top of the tank only, and did the rest of the installation myself.
The heater works very well.
