The Wiki Camps app. For Android and iPhone has a Details page for each campsite listed, this page hosts a number of icons intended to describe the major features of the campsite eg. Toilets, water, pets, fires etc. It also has an icon for the legal designation of the land the campsite is on and this is a problem.
I have noticed a number of (Victorian) campsites are classified in Wiki Camps as being in State Forest when, in fact, they are in State Parks or Reserves of one type or another. This can be a major issue in Victoria (and perhaps other states?) in that firearms, fires, dogs and dispersed camping are permitted in State Forests but not in National Parks, State Parks and most Reserves (except Game Reserves and there is a host of other rules around them).
In reality: if you camp in the wrong area and a ranger/police turn up you'll probably just get kicked off, if you have a dog they may (50/50 I reckon) prosecute BUT if you have firearms they will definitely prosecute and you'll be in major strife.
Conclusion: don't believe the land designations in Wiki Camps. ---- Edit: stupid HTML white space.

We use Wiki Camps to find popular places to avoid. There's lots of misinformation on that App from our experience. Lots of people that post info on it would not know if they are in a State Park, State Forest, National Park, Nature Reserve, Flora & Fauna Reserve, Game Reserve or anywhere else.
