Tragedy in Southern NSW

POLICE were today investigating a horror smash in which two grey nomads in their mid-60s were killed when their Mitsubishi Triton ute towing a caravan collided with a truck on the Cobb Highway near Wanganella in southern NSW. Reports suggest that the Victorian travellers' rig, which was heading north, may have veered into the path of the cattle-carrying B-double. It took several hours to extricate the crumpled ute from underneath the truck. A report is being prepared for the Coroner.

Report I read indicated that the caravanner was attempting to pass the truck when the collision happened. Seemed like van might have gotten sucked towards the truck and the rig went under it from the side.

Most unfortunate, think about the Police, Ambulance and emergency services people who had to deal with the mess, don't envy them their job.

Guess the theories about what happened along with all of the compulsory safety advice will come thick and fast now.

Totally agree with you Santa. What special people our "emergency service people " are. I don't think most of us could  imagine some of the  situations they face in their day on the job.

I want to say a huge thanks to all these special members of our society.

Cheers Owen.

Anything can happen & it did for those unfortunate people. Drive conservatively to the terrain, conditions & don't be overconfident of your abilities. Always remember that you're an elderly person traveling long distances. A real pity that two people work their whole life to enjoy retirement & in a flash it's all gone.
