Great Central Road

Hi all, I am thinking of driving to Uluru from Perth along the Great Central Road via Kalgoorlie / Laverton and will be pulling a 25ft Jayco Sterling with a low set suspension. Do you think it is a goer or not. Most interested to here from anyone who has done the journey. We are planning to leave early June Cheers Len

I wrote this below on another members ("Werkin")  post this week.     Low slung van ! how low ?
The  200 klms Ularu to the WA Border       are hard sand but this "can" be corrugated BADLY.

I was  over it again   in June last year.         WA Border to Laverton was very good  at that time.      By that I mean it is an Unsealed Road,   what I call good,  can be another's nightmare.  Five years ago this road was a trial to us with a small camper on the back.
If you have had your van over short stretches of unsealed roads you will know how it performs. Then think of 1200 Klm's of   unsealed road.
In june  last year you would have not had a problem.  But I did see  a Large Off Road  Caravan with Suspension Damage.
And a totally Wrecked  Tent Trailer. Broken Stub axle and roll over. Probably going very fast when it happened.   The road was in Good Nick at that time.

From my previous post.

As well as the Helpful replies you will get on here, try the "Search" in the Blue ribbon up in the top of the page.  Type in GCR, or Great Central Road, or Outbackway,      There is lots of past Questions and Replies about the GCR on this forum.  Some one asked this just last week I think.

It Is a great trip, take your time, get your permits online or in Alice at the appropriate office

Mike.

P.S. going East to West  Just show your Permit at the Uluru NP entry gate  you don't have to pay to go through.  Coming West to East you don't have to stop at the Kiosk.  Make sure you see the Rock.
