STUART HWY ADELAIDE TO DARWIN

Hi all

Is it busy going North yet please? Been up/down heaps of times so know the way.

Reason is I may stay at CP's on the way as I'm feeling the cold this year badly and may not free camp every night.

If I need to book ahead it would good to know this now.

Head off on 22May.

Your current info appreciated.

Cheers baz

I was born at Dorrigo . Never wore shoes till we went to Sydney when I was 12.

We used to go swimming EVERY Day of the year , from when I was 4 till 12.

Even when it's snowing in Colorado . I still had shorts & singlet on . But I did put a vest on . Occasionally.

Don't matter to me Dorrigo or th Territory . I Climatise pretty quick.

If you want to stay at the caravan park type areas at the roadhouses along the Stuart Highway, you shoulld be ok, provided you get in at a reasonably early afternoon time.
It is coming up to busy time in Alice Springs, so I would definitely book there, even if it is only a few days ahead, when timing known.
Ditto Katherine.
Ditto Darwin. Getting harder each year to get in there during the mid year period.

ALDI are having their Snow gear sale this Saturday and have some wonderful under-garments cheap.

A couple of scotches and a camp fire, flannelette sheets and PJs, a hot water bottle and a good woman. Free camp and minus 5 degrees, no problems. biggrin

Sorry Baz, I cant give you CP info, my bloke camped in his ute overnight. He just phoned from near Pimba and says there seems like hundreds of caravans heading north. Last night the roadside parks were as full as he had ever seen them, packed.
This is from Alice, heading south.

Sorry I cant be more helpful. Have a great trip. We will be heading back up ourselves in a couple of weeks and hoping its quieter by then.

Daly Waters can get very busy but from memory they have an area over the road for when the CP is full.
