Hi all i am a roadtrain driver that runs adelaide to yurla twice a week last year while drive back near the rfds airstrip 10kms north spotted a smalldog at night with a coat on it pulled up in a hurry tryed to find it walking along the fog line it was a white terrier spent 4 hours looking for it on the return trip took a water bottle and dryed food left it for it weeks i kept looking found out later couple of graynomads rolled there 4b usure of out come the local copper said that that lost a small dog sadly i believe the dog perished with the heat so this year while filling up with fuel at marla told how couple let ther small aussie terrrier out only to find a huge wedge tail grad it and fly off i have seen with my own eyes a eagle attack a small roo and bring it down so if you do take the dog keep it in a cage in case of roll over or on a harness and while walking around andy
Bloody good advice, Andy. I know personally of two instances of dogs being taken by eagles. We have small dogs and they are on harnesses and leads when out and about.

You should also watch out for dingos, dingos love a good dog sandwich. It's not just small dogs at risk, dingos will band together to bring down a larger meal.
