Registration in Sth Australia

A couple of Kiwi's about to set off on the first of many trips - we have just purchased a van and tow combo in SA, and I'm needing some advice on registration. As we do not have a domiciled address in Australia are we able to register the vehicles and receive renewal notices etc via email or will we need to find someone/somewhere that can provide us with a 'fixed' address to register the rig to??

Can't wait to get underway - have extensive caravanning experience over here in NZ, and looking forward to fulfilling a dream we've had for many years.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction on this issue....

Many thanks in advance

Guy

Hi Guy

Here's the legislation.

https://www.legislation.sa.gov.au/LZ/C/A/MOTOR%20VEHICLES%20ACT%201959.aspx

See sections 20, 22 and 97A for some basic info. Licence should be OK but normally need residential address for registration (as compulsory third party{bodily injury} insurance linked to residency).

Maybe contact the department to get their perspective in writing ie email,,, see link below.

http://mylicence.sa.gov.au/road-rules/the-drivers-handbook/vehicles-reg

Hope this helps

Cheers Baz

Hi, we, two pom's recently bought a motorhome in Australia and for the Rego you will need a garaging address, we got ours from the seller once you have a garaging address everything else is easy and all renewals can be done via email.

Thanks Baz - lot of info there... Looks like we'll have to find an address to use.
