From memory, (so do not quote me on this), one poster mentioned that one of the drawbacks, was that you had to wait quite a while after the last use, before it decomposed, and you could empty it

Agree with you Macka - just watched the Canadian "lass" showing warts and all video of her Composting toilet - Mate I would prefer to use a bucket/spade. Thetford cassette is only way to go (pun intended) in an RV.

I can just imagine campers emptying their waste in camping areas thinking it has composted and also emptying 8 litres of urine undiluted in one spot will attract vermin. Did you notice the amount of filth collected around the hinged seal? How is this emptied and cleaned, probably with a lot of water, sort of defeats the purpose.
