We were at Airlie Beach. Left Saturday morn heading Sth to home.
So glad we did too. Others in the Van Park were heading to Chaters Towers.
As it turns out we could have headed to Townsville.
We felt it wasn't worth the risk though

Came to Cooktown on Saturday. Glad we came when we did. Problems getting through now

I have a Brother, who with his wife were staying on the beach in their caravan , they were a couple of hundred clicks South of Bowen when he emailed me on Monday night, he said that they were pulling out Tuesday morning and heading inland, as it so happened the ex-Cyclone decided to turn South, so I think they maybe stuck in some place, unable to continue because of flood waters, I haven't heard any more from them, sure hope they are o.k.

Safely sitting on my claim in Sapphire waiting for the rain to stop. Then gumboots on and pick in hand I will be ready.
It hasn't stopped raining since sometime last night. The wind does get strong at times but the van hardly moves.
The rivers are supposed to flood tonight with 200 ml of rain forecast.

After completing our house sit at Dolphin Heads in Mackay, we had two choices, one to head to Townsville for our next house sit, two, hang out for a few days to see what Debbie would do.

We decided to wait until Sunday, at that stage, Townsville was in the firing line. On Sunday, we headed out to Moranbah, thinking we would be safe there. We were comfortable in the mining village, and yesterday rang the police for their advise. They suggested moving on to Clermont or even Emerald. We chose Clermont, and on listening to news tonight, glad that we did, as Moranbah was hit pretty bad.

Waiting tonight/tomorrow morning to see what the road/weather brings, hoping still to head up the Gregory Dev Road to Charters Towers then on to Townsville by Saturday.

Glads we moved from Mackay, glad we moved from Moranbah. Police advise was appreciated.

Foresight is a great thing, we could have got to Townsville well ahead of the storm.

Note: in Moranbah, we left the 4wd hitched, and filled all watertanks for extra weight. Our van did not rock and roll at all.....

I am on Nth NSW Coast and heavy rain and winds here as we speak.

Give it a miss 'Debbie' enough is enough already.

I am due in Townsville early May, DM. I know you will be further up the line though.

Heavy rain here in Glasshouse mt and South, they expect the worst to be over by midday. Flooding not a problem to Caboolture just the idiots who will not slow down and do not understand about aqua planing..

Agree with the aqua planing CC. Saw it on two occassions a week ago but I was well back at time and able to slow down even more than I already was so no problem to me. SOME trucks need to slow as well. Hope it does clear sooner than later though.

No problem at all here in Tasmania !!! Although seriously I have a daughter and family in Proserpine. They scraped thru ok with no damage to the house, but haven't had a good chance to talk yet. Some sheds damaged, they have a sugar cane crop so maybe it's damaged, and a new store they opened in Airlie Beach was flooded, broken window at front of store which let the looters in !! Big loss there but all insured.

At Horseshoe bay, Magnetic island , we faired well, but the estplanard took a beating, with major erosion. No rain though, and we really need it as Ross dam is 17%.Hope you all did itas easy as me. Bill

We were in Rockhampton and it was a wild time for a couple of nights the rain and wind bounced the van about a bit ended up staying up one night, it was so tough, I felt for those who were further North of us.

But we came out ok, even if we needed to clean a lot of mould after near 2 weeks of rain.
